What if our memories weren't free? What if we had to choose to save them at the end of each day, and the quality of each memory came with a price? We had to decide which were worth saving and how clearly we wanted them preserved, any that we didn't pay for would disappear into nothingness when we woke up the next morning, and we could never get them back. For less money we could keep a vague, blurred still snapshot of an event, the rich could afford to relive the memories in real time, with perfect recall of every smell, taste, touch, and emotion they experienced in that moment. Which memories would you pay for, and how much would you be willing to spend to preserve them forever?
I think I'm getting the itch for another story...
